Approved by the MOE Doctoral Scholarship Review Committee, College of Science, on December 23, 2024.
1. Eligibility:
This scholarship is available to non-working doctoral students (Ph.D. students) in their first to third years who hold Republic of China (Taiwan) citizenship. The subsidy period begins from the date of approval until the end of the student's third year in the doctoral program. For those who graduate early, the award will be provided until the month of graduation.
2. Funding Breakdown:
Each recipient receives a monthly stipend as follows:
MOE Subsidy: NT$20,000.
University Matching Fund: NT$15,000 (limited to newly admitted students).
College/Department Contribution: * New Students: NT$5,000, Current Students: NT$20,000.
(Note: The College/Department contribution may include the Cho-Cheng Scholarship, Teaching Assistant (TA) stipends, Research Assistant (RA) stipends, or NSTC personnel expenses such as research assistantships.)
3. Disqualification Criteria:
Recipient status will be revoked if any of the following occur during the study period:
Failure to complete registration, taking a leave of absence, deferring enrollment, or withdrawing from the university.
Engaging in full-time employment in public or private institutions. (However, part-time work within university offices, serving as a part-time assistant for NSTC projects, or serving as a part-time lecturer is permitted. Any fraudulent claims will result in the MOE reclaiming the funds.)
Students fast-tracking to a Ph.D. program who transfer or return to a Master’s program.
Starting from the second semester after enrollment, if the previous semester's GPA falls below 80 or the conduct grade is lower than "A."
Concurrent receipt of the "National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) Doctoral Student Research Fellowship (Pilot Scheme)."
4. Student Responsibilities:
Award recipients must assist with teaching or research-related tasks and other duties assigned by their advisors and departments, in accordance with the source of the matching funds.
5. Administrative Note:
These regulations have been approved by the College of Science MOE Doctoral Scholarship Review Committee and are officially announced on the College website.
6. Evaluation and Continuation:
Recipients are required to fill out a "Scholarship Continuation Evaluation Form" (defined by their respective departments) at the end of each semester. Supporting documents must be provided for departmental assessment. If a recipient fails to meet the College’s evaluation standards, they must undergo counseling; otherwise, their scholarship eligibility will be terminated.
